Vancouver Police Won't Face Charges In GUNS N' ROSES Riot

Vancouver police officers accused of brutality in breaking up a riot over a cancelled GUNS N' ROSES concert won't face charges, according to the Canadian Press.

Some people claimed the police used excessive force when they stopped vandals who were smashing doors and glass at the GM Place stadium after the show was cancelled at the last moment last November. The criminal justice branch of the Attorney General's Ministry reviewed an internal report by the Vancouver police department on the conduct of its officers. Crown spokesman Geoffrey Gaul says it was decided not to lay charges against the officers because there was little likelihood of getting any convictions.

Two men have filed civil suits against the police after being injured during the riot.

Robert Parent said he was smashed in the mouth by police while Detlef Schroeder said he was injured in the back, head and neck.
